Week 34 of Pregnancy (Trimester 3 of Preganancy)

Rosie is spending this week with AJ’s mother – one of the two weeks of the school Easter Break. So I have taken the opportunity to cook some extra meals and put them in the freezer, for after the baby arrives (for those hectic days when I don’t know whether I’m coming or going).

Have abandoned my twice weekly swim for the holidays – the pool is full to the brim with boisterous kids and no place for a fat lady that just wants to swim and up down peacefully! Up until now I have been regularly doing 32 lengths (equivalent to half a mile), with only 3 breaks at the edge of the pool during the half and hour this takes. I am very pleased with how my stamina and fitness has improved. I feel much fitter than I did with Rosie and hopefully this will contribute to an easier labour!

We have chosen a pushchair and put down a deposit. Choosing transport for your baby is a very personal decision – it all depends on your lifestyle. Because I use public transport a lot, I have opted for a lightweight, single-hand fold pushchair that is suitable from birth. It is a good idea to visit lots of showrooms and get as many demonstrations as possible before finally choosing. All good manufacturers will have websites too, with contact pages for any questions you may have.

Not much new going on with Baby – the next weeks will be spent maturing and getting ready for the birth. One source quotes that at this stage a foetus spends 60% of the last trimester of pregnancy dreaming!
